Android - feedback for aml-s905x-cc-android-7-1-preview-1.img
Hi all,
I wonder where to give feedback... I have played with this Android image a bit.
Positive
- Device boots fast
- Kodi is working
Negative
- no store
- some apps e.g. Spotify are not working properly (board connected to my Samsung TV 1080p and I can only see a small strip instead of full screen)
- Wifi dongles are not recognized
I would also prefer to have Android to boot to 'classic' theme.
Comments
I am not a fan of the Android image. I am guessing that is more to do with the UX / GUI of Mbox. It's very dated looking. I would rather see a cleaner Material design.
I believe there was a reason the Google Play / app store is not allowed and that is more on Google's side than it is with the Android image.
I haven't tried Kodi yet, but I was about to sideload Plex and see how that goes.
I am using Ethernet over WiFi right now so I can't say if WiFi dongles are recognized or not, but Ethernet does seem to be functioning.
Hi, could you tell me where is the Android source code?
Thank you
Hi,
Some feedback:
Im missing the store, wanna use it to stream from my netflix account.
From what I see, the device is not capable of DTS HDMA except for the core part.
Hi all !
I just bought this board and I was able to install android 7.1 and several apk.
Exemple : Nova Launcher, Opera, Bouygue TV (French television)
I'm looking forward to a way to put gapps and root!
Thank you for your work.
NB: A port of Retropie is planned for this board? Thank you
The download image for aml-s905x-cc-android-7-1-preview-1.img.zip is bad, were can find another download for the file?
@invik, Are you referring passing through DTS HDMA?
@JR6P7, Does the file size match the server file size?
Yes. but it works fine on LibreElec so maybe that this Android version of Kodi does not contain what is needed to decode DTS-HDMA
@loverpi, no the file size does not match.
@JR6P7 Have you tried to download it again? Are you sure you didn't get a partial file? Plenty of people have no had an issue with it.
@loverpi, I tried from my desktop and server. Get the same error on both.
@JR6P7 We downloaded it 3 times. What tool are you using to unzip? What is the hash of the file?
@loverpi, I can download the file also, but when i use winrar it tells me the file is corrupt. And windows explorer shows a ratio of 96% like 4% is missing. Just tried from another network and got the same error. Maybe the file doesn't like me. lol
Try something other than WinRAR. There's no issue with the file. It is either the extraction tool or your network.
@loverpi , I did try another tool and I also tried an server on a different network. Still get the same error. I sent the link to someone else and they had the same issue. At this point it's no big deal. But thanks any way.
@loverpi, see the file size from another server that i just downloaded the file from, you still think the file is good?
@JR6P7 Your decompression tool is obviously broken. Verify the file matches the sha512 signature and use another zip tool. The tool says the file is 807 petabytes when it's only suppose to be 8GB.
@loverpi, The file was download from the site and windows explorer was used to open the file. Like I said before I had someone try from there network and they got the same as before that the file was corrupt. Can new copy of the file be uploaded to the download site?
@JR6P7, Use a different extraction tool and make sure you have sufficient disk space (8GB). Your tool says the file is 100 million times bigger than it is suppose to be. Plenty of people have downloaded it and had no problem extracting it and burning it.
@loverpi, I have tried many different tools and I have 1TB of free space. The three people that I sent the link to are having the issue that I'm having. I wont keep wasting your time. Again thanks for the help.
@JR6P7, see above. If the SHA512sum matches, the zip is good.
@loverpi, what tools do you think i should use to download and unzip the file with?
@JR6P7, check the sha512sum first. If it matches, you know the zip is good and you can move on to the next step of unzipping it.
@loverpi, I have and the file is bad. The file will unzip and show that it is 7,798,784kb and the file will not work after writing the imaging to the sdcard. And when you unzip the file is it the same size as what I put up top?
@JR6P7, You have to be very specific. "I have and the file is bad." Which file is bad? Does the SHA512 not match up? What tool are you using to write to the SD card? What size and brand of SD card are you using? What happens when you power up the device? Answer each question as specifically as possible.
@loverpi, The aml-s905x-cc-android-7-1-preview-1.img.zip. Yes they match. Win32DiskImager. New Scandisk ultra plus. Green screen, then it goes black.
@JR6P7 What is the make an model of your monitor?
Also not having much luck booting the android .img Im using etcher to write the image to 16gb micro sd card. All 3 lights on board light up.
Monitor is working fine with tinkerboard, raspberry pi 1 & 3 and orange pi.
