How to get 4k on Ubuntu

When we will have 4k resolution on Ubuntu distro for this board? All advertisement on web says "AML-S905X-CC Le Potato: Fastest 4K SBC under $50 for Makers" but we only get 4k on LibreElec with Kodi, that is just a SmartTV OS.

The images are based on mainline Linux and not the vendor BSP. Mainline support for HDMI 2.0 is still in progress and not yet completed.

YouTube and Netflix aren't supported because they require DRM not available to Linux.

I installed the latest Ubuntu image and I didn't get 4k playback smoothly,  in fact it was struggling with 720p

Well, that's not quite true, I have ubuntu running on a mini ITX board, loads openH264 just fine. It is your distro that seems to be missing that ability, not the mainstream ubuntu. Maybe it's just not supported in ARM 64, which makes this board unsuitable for the task of playing netflix. Pity.

@rynther Ubuntu does not support Netflix or YouTube DRM for 4K. You are playing low resolution versions that do not have DRM.
