Allwinner VPU on Linux

I'm inexperienced with all this, so please pardon my naivety. I heard that the allwinner vpu support project turned out quite successful with H264/265 and Mpeg support. How do I get the drivers on my H3 and H5 boards if possible currently?
Is it something I have to install or do I have to wait for awhile and it'll be automatically included in the ubuntu installs/updates?
Can I get a KODI image with such VPU support working with the H3/H5 tritiums?
