Booting from SD / Flashing Images

Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting any images other than the Raspbian Desktop (Strech + LXDE) image to boot from an SD card, and was wondering if anyone had any advice. When I try the Ubuntu, Debian, and RetrOrangePi images I get the solid orange LED, and solid Ethernet LEDs and no other response (as others have described).

I'm using the 2GB ALL-H3-CC, and have tried flashing the images with dd, etcher, and etcher-cli (I'm on OSX) without success.

I'd really like to get the RetrOrangePi image working - any help is much appreciated!
