First-time user. My board won't boot.

Board: ROC-RK3328-CC (1gb variant)
SD card I used: Samsung evo 64Gb
What I used to flash the card: balenaEtcher 1.4.9 running on MacOS 10.14
Where I got the image: http://share.loverpi.com/board/libre-computer-project/libre-computer-board-roc-rk3328-cc/image/ubuntu/ROC-RK3328-CC-ubuntu18.04-LXDE_20180920.img.xz
Monitor: 2560 x 1440 DELL U2715H

When I connect the board to USB power a red and green LED light up, but no other sign of life appears. Ethernet is plugged into my Netonix gigabit WS-6-MINI switch but no link LEDs appear on either the board or my switch.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Both say desktop usage.

The first one you listed does not come with a desktop environment. It's just command line and doesn't come with extra baggage.

The second one comes with Xfce as the default desktop environment and whatever applications they prefer.

The second one has GUI and the first one is headless like @Cornelius mentioned already. Please don't repeat the question.

That IMG is compressed with XZIP.  Does your image burner know to uncompress it first?   You likely just need to unzip it (its XZ, not ZIP and not compatible) so that it can get an image it can read.
