@Igonjo Great news! Sounds really interesting. I have tried to dd image to eMMC, but this does not boot. Can you please explain in some more details how to flash to eMMC? Thanks.
@wappi I am burning the images using Windows. as follows:
In order to flash the img file to eMMC, you will need to have a USB A male to USB A male. Install the eMMC card on its slot on the back of the board.
download the .img for S905X from my previous post and unzip it.
download and install USB Burning Tool v2.1.2 for amlogic boards and open the image file and load it on USB burning tool.
Now to connect the Le Potato with the eMMC card in the slot. Remove the SD card if you have it. Remove the power cable and just connect the USB A male to the first top left USB port (looking at the board with the USB ports facing you). press the little reset button and at the same time connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB3 port in your computer. USB burning tool should pick it up and just hit start with flashing the image. On green light, bam. you've got your image on eMMC. close the application and remove the USB cable. Plug the board now to your TV, remote dongle and power it up. wait for the box to come alive and that is all done. Enjoy.
As reported earlier, my only one issue is how to solve a working WIFI USB adapter. Right now working with Ethernet LAN, which combined with the speed provided by the eMMC makes this build very stable and fast. No bloatware, rooted and the play store is spoofed to another S905X for high compatibility.
Works with many images for any S905X 2GB. it's just that Lewy20041 is the most stable one and with a all working android play store. I have installed KODI v18 "Leia" Alpha 1 ARMv8A (64bit) version with excellent smooth image quality.
Hello everyone, I've had my s905x-cc board for MONTHS! I couldn't use the Android 7.1 image on a SD card due to it only having 1.9GB of usable space. So i figured I'll look around the forum for another Android image. And i found this... So i just ordered the 16GB eMMc module from LovePi and downloaded the image Igonjo provided. I cant wait. Thanks for the tip.
I have tried another WIN notebook with success. @Igonjo I have also tested my wifi sticks, but both are not working. It took some time to get rid of bluetooth app, but every app is working. Just have some problems with drag&drop... I will be happy for any hint. Overall best OS for Lepotato and booting from eMMC.
Make sure the SD card is wiped and formatted with a good system like MiniTool Partition Wizard. the 4% error almost certainly comes from a wrong partition structure which might not be completely eliminated by a normal SD card windows format.
To flash the image on SD card I think that the amlogic USB burning tool method will work if the SD card is used on the board instead of the eMMC.
In addition to the burning method using the Le Potato I think that for SD card image burn, Etcher or Win32DiskImager will also do the trick, provided that a good quality SD card is used. just make sure the old partition structure is erased and Fat32 format is done on the SD card between each img burning.
@wappi glad that it is working out for you. I think I understand the drag&drop issue. with my airmouse I have to toggle between pointer and normal remote to use flick through the browser but on Kodi it works well. So I think the remote drivers by default make the remote work with a different behavior than the hardware default. Could it be something that is configurable? didn't take time yet to investigate. Mainly using Kodi where the airmouse works normally.
Would welcome tips for any working WIFI USB dongle though.
I tried it again on a SD card reformatted to fat32, and still get disc error at 7%, get same
error if no card is installed, sandisk extreme plus card, if I use etcher to flash img get
message no boot files, same as get from firefly's android for ROC which I have to use
their tool to flash which adds boot, @wappi how did you get rid of Bluetooth, on my android tv I can see all the running system apps not on this
@jeepthing Are you using Lewy android 8.0 Oreo version?
I used the ES file explorer (it was pre-installed) and activated the 'root mode'. Under apps (make sure that you can see all systems apps by clicking at the three dots on upper right) you can find 'Bluetooth' and you can uninstall it. After this the 'bluetooth error' did not occur anymore.
BTW I had not much success with SD card flashing, but also did not try long, because Android works much better on eMMC.
@jeepthing if the SD partitions are wiped out and then formatted then you could try another USB cable. It has occurred to me with a USB cable that was only working in one direction and not the reverse. swapping the tip ends of the cable made the flashing go without errors at last. One other thing, make sure the laptop you are using is connecting. Using USB3 is also important as the flashing will suck out the juice out of your USB port in a serious way. Try to power up the Le Potato for the flashing operation. It may help compensating if you are using a normal USB port on your computer.
I can't figure out why my Windows 10 PC cant see the Lepotato with eMMc... It sees it with the SD Card in but not the eMMc chip. I have USB Burning Tool installed and a good USB to USB cable but no Dice. I've tried Every USB port, pressing the uboot button, not pressing it, ect ect. I'm at a loss. At least they sent me the wrong eMMc module, I ordered the 16GB module and they sent me a 32GB module 5.x...
@jonathan514 open USB burning tool, connect USB cable to PC, hold down the uboot button, plug USB cable from PC to upper left USB port , release button, the USB burning tool should then see board
Thx @Igonjo your rom work perfectly. But I have a popup on boot for an update. I accept Update but after update this rom doesn't boot. Any ideas?
How to reboot in recovery mode?
Thx TitQuentin.
I have a problem. When I flash Lewy's rom on EMMC, my first boot works fine. However, when I turn off the system, it doesn't reboot anymore. I have no signal on my screen. An idea?
@wappi no Wi-Fi doesn't work. I use Ethernet. But all fonction work. Bluetooth, drag and drop, kodi and mxplayer 1080p no lag .... And root+xposed ! (Emmc)
yes in all those roms wifi is not working. Any ideas to add wifi on android for Le Potato? @TitQuentin I have had no issues with Lewy rom on eMMC. might be a power issue, cable quality etc.

this is Lewy20041 android 8.0 Oreo that works very well on the Le Potato with the exception of USB WIFI dongles. There is root and android Playstore which works with all my usual apps. the bluetooth app must be uninstalled or an error message will keep popping up. this android rom is the best so far for Le Potato sbc. I am using it daily basis flashed with android flash tool on emmc module. super snappy.

Is there a way to flash this on a micro SD card?

ok ill give it a try... thank you
No dice, nothing in USB Burn tool or even Windows Device Manager. Im at a loss. Im gonna try some USB 3.1 Ports
@Igonjo Have you had any progress with Wifi dongles? Unfortunately some apps require wifi... it is the only feature missing to me...
Thx @Igonjo your rom work perfectly. But I have a popup on boot for an update. I accept Update but after update this rom doesn't boot. Any ideas?

@jaffac thx for reply but I try this rom [https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-stick--console-computers/amlogic/rom-mini-m8s-ii-2gb-xannytech-custom-t3513805] and work perfectly.
Anyway, it's possible to boot in recovery mode with Le Potato for TWRP ?
yes in all those roms wifi is not working. Any ideas to add wifi on android for Le Potato?
@TitQuentin I have had no issues with Lewy rom on eMMC. might be a power issue, cable quality etc.
But I found my problem. I was using an application to be able to turn off or restart on recovery. However this kind of apps brick EMMC memory appear.
