Ubuntu 18.04.2 Mate image - glxinfo hangs

On the Mate image the command "glxinfo" hangs and doesn't terminate (instead it regularly terminates on the Armbian image).
This is an annoying problem because it stops also mate-tweak that is very useful to select the option: "Do not show window content when moving windows" in order to have a more responsive desktop when dragging windows.

    GLX (OpenGL) is not supported by the hardware. It is wrapped by GL4ES into OpenGL ES commands. This is all backed by the ARM Mali binary blobs which are garbage to begin with. Blobs are missing a lot of the interfaces needed to have proper desktop acceleration. Lima the reverse engineered driver is not upstream or complete but will offer better desktop acceleration since it will be integrated directly into Mesa.
