How to flash image to sdcard

Good day all,

Hope someone can direct me to the correct way to flash an image to sd card. I have tried to install Ubuntu, Debian, and Raspbian with no luck. The board will not boot. The only OS that boots is Armbian. I am using etcher to flash the image... should I be using another utility to flash my sd cards?

Any help would be great.

EDIT - I am able to boot Ubuntu... still no luck with the others but.....

I am using Amlogic USB_Burning_Tool_v2.0.8 and I am having no luck flashing Android Oreo to an SdCard.  I am pretty much a noob so step by step is appreciated.

Amlogic's SDK does not support MicroSD cards. The only port was for Android 7.1 two years ago.
