Background:

Amlogic's S912 pin-to-pin compatible chip family consists of S905D and S912. S905D is equipped with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores, 2+4 ARM Mali-450 Geometry+Pixel GPU cores, and Amlogic's AVE10 display engine. S912 is equipped with 4+4 ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores in a dual-cluster bigLittle configuration, 3 ARM Mali-T820 GPU cores, and Amlogic's AVE10 display engine with H.265 encoding support. Both expand on Amlogic's popular S905X SoC with additional IOs and Gigabit Ethernet. Amlogic S905D/S912 upstream open-source support is primarily maintained by BayLibre for Amlogic and Libre Computer as part of the linux-meson community.
