Background:

Rockchip's RK3328 SoC is a late rival to the Amlogic S905X SoC. While the multimedia codec support is lacking compared to Amlogic S905X, it features USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. It is equipped with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores, 2+2 ARM Mali-450 Geometry+Pixel GPU cores, and  display engine. Rockchip RK3328 upstream open-source support is primarily maintained by Rockchip and the linux-rockchip community. As of the time of writing, Rockchip's upstream Linux support is not stable and upstream u-boot has severe limitations.
