What is the default root password of the debain and ubuntu images ?

i tried both and when i want root priviliges it told me that it wants the root pass .

i tried "root" and also left it empty and it gives me an error back

I guess there is none. But you can login as user "libre" with password "computer" and use sudo. So to change to root type "sudo su" (and enter the password of libre). If you want to you can then set a root password with passwd.

I used the headless image. logging in with libre / computer works, after that you can use sudo to gain root access.

This is standard practice for ubuntu and debian images
