Actually using La Frite?

So - it seems that once you get around some real fussiness about what USB drives will work, that you can boot into Ubuntu. But, with only 2 USB ports, and the OS in one, you can't connect both a keyboard and mouse. I have a KVM that has both connected to one USB port, but La Frite appears to freeze when I switch between computers on the KVM

Has any one used one of the Logitech unified receivers to connect both a mouse and keyboard?

What about using a usb hub to connect a regular keyboard and mouse ? Doesn't even have to be a powered one.

There's a couple of solutions. 1) USB hub. 2) eMMC. 3) Network OS. 4) Internet OS (in development).

I use logitech unifying to connect a keyboard and mouse on the Debian XFCE image. In general it works fine, though I don't seem to be able to halt u-boot by pressing escape, it seems to be recognized only later. Didn't try with a usb keyboard yet.

Same here. I just can't get into anything requiring a keyboard input until the system has booted.
8 keyboards, dongle based or cable based, left USB port or right one. It just doesn't matter. The keyboard responds only AFTER booting.

Usb hub was a great suggestion - there was one sitting on my desk, looking for a purpose in life. La Frite seems a bit finicky about the keyboard and mouse staying connected, but since the mouse was some random one I found in a drawer, not sure what's at fault. Browsing seems noticably slower than on the Raspberry Pi 3.

Raspberry Pi 3 uses fbturbo which conflicts with the X11 module for mali. We don't have that module enabled on our desktop images because it means you won't get 3D acceleration. Raspberry Pi uses a proprietary dispmanx system to accelerate 3D.

I use an un-powered USB 2.0 hub, it is fussy about having to plug it into the USB port furthest from the GPIO otherwise it won't boot.

u-boot's USB stack was not very stable on the 2019.04 release. It is getting improvements in new firmware releases coming in October (2019.10) https://github.com/u-boot/u-boot

Logitech's unifying receivers do work fine. So do the MS 2-in-1 receivers. I'm assuming that almost all multifunction adapters will work since they're all built into the linux kernel's drivers. 

I have an EMMC chip, a unifying receiver and and WiFi dongle so until they get the wireless mezzanine (especially if it's a bluetooth one for wireless mouse & keyboards) this board has very limited use for me.
